PAC features pre-hydrolyzed polymeric structures that charge-neutralize colloids much faster than monomeric Alum. It operates effectively over a broader pH range (5.0–9.0) and generates larger, more shear-resistant flocs, which are easier to filter out before seawater reaches Reverse Osmosis membranes.
Unlike Alum, whose hydrolysis is highly temperature-dependent, PAC remains highly effective in colder temperatures. The pre-formed polymeric species do not require additional energy to hydrolyze, making PAC suitable for seasonal temperature fluctuations.
